Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (which owns the majority of its investment in Apple), recently spoke about how loyal iPhone users are to the company. He said that even if offered $10,000 never to buy another iPhone again, iPhone users wouldn’t take the money if it meant giving up their devices. So, we asked our readers the same question.
We received nearly 5,000 responses, 45% of which indicated they would take the money. Meanwhile, 36% said they wouldn’t take the money, and 17% said they’d give up their Android phones if they were offered more.
Here are some responses from our readers:
delatox: “One of the main reasons I keep a personal phone is because I hate the way iOS works. I mainly use the iPhone for work because I don’t want to use it if I don’t have to.”
Guildiv: “I’d get a higher rate. If he’d take care of all my debts, including the mortgage? Sure. My wife’s been using an iPhone already since 2009, so it’s not like I don’t know what to do with that. I’m the one who has to.” Fix any issues with it as it is anyway.”
Tom O’Dell: “My favorite is Android. The Samsung Flip is my daily driver. But I have a spare Apple cell phone. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I think Android is a little ahead. $10,000? Hey, I gotta go with the big bucks.”
Judge’s castle (Twitter): “The Pixel 6 did it for 599. I loved that ecosystem and the phone, but evolving technology was cutting me off, and I needed consistency. Apple provided that and a whole ecosystem, which makes my personal life and work life mostly easier. Oh my God, am I missing software Pixel, though.”
David Gossett (Twitter): “Ehhhh…I prefer Android, and I understand UI, file system, etc., better than iOS, but it’s annoying not to mention group texts just because I don’t use iMessage. If it wasn’t for the constant “green bubble” bullying, I wouldn’t I’m never inclined to leave Android.”
Brett Morris (FB): “I would if it meant anything other than iOS. I didn’t really care for an iPhone when I had one. I would definitely go for HarmonyOS if it had the apps I depended on every day for work.”
Izwan Shaari (FB): “Yeah. I’m not a power user, so adapting to iOS would be easy. I’d miss being able to choose between phone brands. And a cheaper price in general.”
The poll may be over, but the question still remains: What does it take to leave Android? Personally, I’d get $10,000, but only if I could move to Windows Phone. iOS is good, iPhones have great hardware, as seen in the latest iPhone 14 Pro. However, Microsoft had something special with their long-dead mobile operating system, which unfortunately has struggled to entice developers.
